DAY ONE | 24 October
DIALOGUES
14.30 – 16.30
Peer to peer learning parallel sessions– by invitation only
The afternoon session of the Summit is organised in two parallel dialogues, “Assets for dynamic ecosystems” and “Community Renewal”, dedicated to deepen the main Summit focus on cities as platform. The goal of the dialogues is to bring together key actors on the specific topics in order to facilitate knowledge sharing and provide a platform for the development of partnerships and new initiatives at the international level. The dialogues will be interactive and professionally facilitated, in order to ensure participation and practical outcomes.

Co-chair: Fabio Sgaragli, Head of Innovation, Fondazione Giacomo Brodolini
To move to a platform approach, where acting as organic communities, cities need to develop capabilities to enhance physical assets (such as Living Labs, incubators and accelerators). From real estate development for community benefit to small business lending, physical assets are increasingly becoming launch pads for new (social) entrepreneurship, community development, affordable and market rate housing development and investment and leverage to experiment new management and PPP models in robust ecosystems. Developing these assets will be key to cities building the partnerships they need to ensure that their economies, environment, and services are fit for the future.
Baltimore stakeholders will introduce the topic describing their best practice to give fuel to the discussion with other relevant local and national Italian stakeholders in a way to build opportunities for new partnership.

Civil society is a game changer that can lead cities to a sustainable future. Social capital is a key element for the society capability to prosper and copy with current common challenges. Active engagement of civil society and local key actors in so called “collective actions”, by co-designing, managing and investing in public goods, spaces and services, is a way to implement actions to capitalise city assets in order to share their value with the community and spark new bottom up initiatives.
